Nicolas Callot,

classical pianist, teacher and producer


At the age of eight he started studying the piano with Heidi Hendrickx and Levente Kende. 

In 2004 he graduated from the Conservatory of Amsterdam under the guidance of the Russian pianist Mila Baslawskaja. 

Regulary he took lessons with Elisabeth Leonskaja and Jan Wijn.

Nicolas has participated in master classes with well-known teachers such as Georgy Kurtag, John Perry, Lazar Berman, Dmitri Bashkirov, Vitaly Margulis, Peter Feuchtwanger en Christopher Hogwood.


Nicolas Callot won numerous National Competitions and was a Laureate of the Brahms Competition in Austria.

He has given numerous concerts in Europe and the U.S. and has performed with conductors like Philippe Herreweghe, Michael Schoenwandt, Frans Cuypers, Fernand Terby, Piet Swerts, Pierre Thimus, Ivo Venkov and Georges Octors.


He has regularly been a guest at the VRT (Flemish Radio and Television) and was invited to represent Belgium in the Eurovision Festival as soloist with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Schoenwandt.


He is active as a chamber musician

He forms a piano duo with Lucas Blondeel. In 2018 they were featured in theKonzerthaus in Berlin in Poulenc's double concerto. They released CDs with piano duets by Schubert (Klara/Warner, 2014) and Schumann(Warner, 2016). These CDs were highly praised in, among others, De Standaard and La Libre Belgique.

In 2017 together with Bart Rodyns he founded duo Zeitspiel. They recorded an LP with works for harmonium and piano by C. Franck 2018.

In 2019 they released a live recording together with soprano Griet de Geyter for the label Warner/Klara.

‘Bach Sessions’ (2022) is the ZEITSPIEL keyboard duo's latest quest for beauty.

With 'Bach Sessions', arias and chorales by Bach are presented in unique arrangements for harmonium and piano.

As a lied-accompanist he works regularly with Hendrickje Van Kerckhove. They made a recording with lieder and piano-solo works by Grieg for the label Phaedra (2017).


Since 2021 he works with popsinger and actor Wannes Cappelle  on a special performance in which they performed Schubert songs translated into West Flemish. They released two albums 'Kom Benevelt Mie' (BB classics, 2021) and 'Verslegen Nevest Gie' with works by Mozart (2022).


He released a solo-piano CD for the label Phaedra with works by Schubert, Liszt and Scriabin.


Besides the modern piano he also performs on historical keyboards and was guided by Malcolm Bilson. He has a beatiful collection at his disposal that he uses for concerts and recordings. He is skilled in restoring, maintaining and tuning these instruments.


Nicolas Callot teaches piano (Main Subject) and historical keyboards at the Fontys Academy of Music and performing Arts of Tilburg (NL) and piano at the Kunsthumaniora Antwerp (BE). He also teaches chamber-music at the Young Conservatoire in Antwerp.

He was assistant teacher of Mila Baslawskaja at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

Recently he travelled to China were he gave masterclasses in five different cities. In 2017 he gave masterclasses at the NTNU in Trondheim (Norway).


Besides his career as a pianist and teacher, he also works as a recording engineer and supervisor for different labels.
